I hope that you have already or are planning to vote on today. Much hangs in the balance for our country, for all of us on so many levels. There is much anxiety about the outcome of this election. Who will win and whether or not the other party will concede the election. Most of the country is divided in a sea of either blue or red. It can be disheartening if you think about it.
How did we ever come to this?
I don’t know the answer to that question. I have my own personal ideas on this matter and it won’t help much to go into a full monologue. I can say that we need to vote as if our lives depend on this election because it does. Our lives depend on the outcome, our parents lives, our children’s lives depend on it both today and years and years ahead. The issues of healthcare with Covid-19 still very much present and making its certain uptick in the form of a third wave in many parts of the country. The question of abortion rights, the rights of the LGBTQ community, the rights of immigrants, Dreamers and so many particular groups of people all hang in the balance. Our economy and the stability of lower and middle class folks, a middle class which carries the weight of our country and its economy. We need an administration which cares about all people. We need viable answers and assistance to the state of where we, collectively, find ourselves. We need to be one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
So, once again, it’s Election Day.
Stand and make your voice heard for yourself and for so many others.
With gratitude, in excellence
