If you want to learn some Atlanta (and worldwide) history, you’ve got to check out the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. With exhibits teaching about the Civil Rights movement in the United States, especially in the south, and rotating exhibits that cover all kinds of human rights issues, you’re sure to leave in awe of the incredible change-makers of history.

Take in sights at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival
Enjoy gorgeous outdoor views while you watch an entertaining and enchanting lineup of performances. Watch Shakespeare’s War of the Roses through the lens of Queen Margaret in “By The Queen” (June-August), the world premiere of the Agatha Christie classic “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd,” (June-September), or the ice-cold, high-octane adaptation of Euripides’ play written in battle rap verse, “Medea: Re-Versed” (June-September). Jam out at SummerStage 2024
A summer in NYC isn’t complete without an iconic SummerStage live performance! The festival lasts around four months and features a diverse lineup of free and ticketed performances throughout all five boroughs ranging from music to dance to theater. This year’s headliners include The Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital (June 18), a Juneteenth Celebration with Masego/Jordan Ward (June 19), Ethel Cain (June 27), Counting Crows (July 11), and more. Manhattan; June 13 – October 20.
Indulge in culture at the Queens Night Market
If you want to learn some Atlanta (and worldwide) The Queens Night Market is a large, family-friendly, uniquely affordable open-air night market in Queens, featuring up to 100 independent vendors selling merchandise, art, and food, and featuring small-scale cultural performances, all celebrating the rich cultural diversity and heritage of NYC and Queens. Learn to kayak on the Hudson River
There’s free kayaking from multiple boathouses around the City, including Hudson River Park’s Pier 26, which has the largest program as well as great views of the Lower Manhattan skyline. It’s available to pretty much everyone—adults and children (those under 18 must have a parent or guardian present), novices and experts. You’ll be equipped with a mandatory life vest, instructions on how to kayak and then off you go in the Hudson.
Experience MTA Music Under New York
MTA MUSIC (Music Under New York) is one of the many visual and performing arts programs administered by MTA Arts & Design that enhances the transit environment for customers. Through MTA MUSIC, more than 350 individuals and ensembles contribute to over 12,000 annual performances within the MTA’s transit system. These performances encompass classical strings, jazz ensembles, world music bands, folk, a cappella groups, singer-songwriters, and more, featuring a wide range of instruments such as the Gambian kora, Korean drum, West Indian steel drums, Andean pipes, Cajun cello, Celtic and Baroque harps, guitars, violins, hammered dulcimers, and musical saws.
